This is an animated gif image of the
recession of the south polar cap during the mapping phase of the MGS
mission. To see the
animation, click on the image. The image is a
false-color image that indicates temperature. The data is based on 2 pm
bolometric measurements. The cap edge is where the blue transitions to green.
This plot shows the bolometer temperature for 3 different latitudes at 12 different longitudal zones.
